The Giant Lava Lamp The citizens of Soap Lake City, Washington have come up with a plan to house the largest lava lamp in the world! This giant lava lamp is a 50-feet high marvel which was constructed as a Target promotion and resided on a building near Times Square in New York City. The city sealed the deal to receive the giant lamp on December 6, 2004 and it will be delivered to the city in early January, 2005. However, they have yet to raise the funds to have it erected in Soap Lake City.
You might be asking yourself why Soap Lake would be so interested in having this giant lava lamp as a feature of their city. Well, the originators of the idea claim that Soap Lake is a ‘healing and art community,’ something which will be signified by the lava lamp. They also point out that Soap Lake is located in a region that was once covered by massive flows of lava itself. Of course, the citizens are hoping that the giant lava lamp will draw plenty of visitors to Soap Lake City.
